Towards Constructor Version 3 in 2016
Welcome to 2016. It’s a new year and at Constructor we are excited about what 2016 has to offer.
As you all know we are always working to improve our software and juggle the changing needs of builders, bookkeepers, and estimators with the advances technology continually presents us with.
There is always a fine line between providing leading edge software capabilities and making change for changes’ sake. We are careful never to develop new software that places an unfair burden on small business operators to keep up both, from an I.T. infrastructure and a staff training point a view.
At the same time, we must always provide our loyal tribe of builders, powered by Constructor, with increasingly useful and relevant functionality.
Over the past 7 years, Constructor has advanced from version 2.7 to 2.21 – that’s 14 minor version updates, and over 30 revisions. These updates included a Payroll Module, Work in Progress reporting, Cash Flow reporting, A.T.O. integration, Security improvements not to mention literally hundreds of minor tweaks and changes across both the fully integrated accounting system, job costing module and the flagship estimating functionality.
However, the I.T. and business landscape continue to change. During this time – of over 30 software revisions – we have also been working hard to position ourselves for providing even more advanced changes and extra capabilities for many years to come.
As such, 2016 will see us commence our rollout of Version 3 of the Constructor product. Constructor Version 3 is a product that all Constructor users will recognise and experienced users will pick up and become productive with on Day 1. “Under the Hood” the software is vastly different and readies us for more changes to come. On the surface however, it will provide the Constructor “tribe” with all of their familiar estimating and accounting functionality – albeit quite polished, along with some new gems which will really streamline some of your day to day operations.
The rollout of this new product will not happen overnight. In fact, it must not happen overnight.
Many facets of the system have been in use at pilot sites for some months, and even years already.
A staged roll-out will continue through the first half of 2016. We will continue to work hard to ensure that as you adopt this new version of our product the investment you have already made in Constructor is not lost. This is why we will work with you to ensure your existing data can be loaded into the new system – should you choose to do so, and that the hours you’ve spent learning the existing system are not wasted.
At the same time, we want to introduce you to some new and exciting features that will only enhance and streamline your day to day activities.
New features will be detailed here, each week, showing you some exciting new things to look forward to once you adopt the new Constructor. We’ll also post some technical information that may interest your I.T. staff/consultants. We will reveal some new online support features in the coming months which should help make your adoption of the latest version a little smoother and bring everyone in the Constructor community a little closer and a little more informed.
So buckle in for an exciting 2016.
